The Foundation
The Gladys Ayebea Hammond Foundation is a non-governmental charity organisation registered in Ghana under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992). The foundation seeks to promote social mobility through sports and sets out to help less privileged children in Ghana.
The Foundation’s operational focus activities are through competitive hockey games among female students at the SHS level and non-competitive games among seniors and veteran hockey clubs.

The values shared by Madam Gladys Ayebea Hammond is what defines this organization. She believed that everything must be undertaken with excellence, integrity and above all hard work. As a hardworking woman, even at a well-advanced age, she continued her business at home until her departure to be with the Lord, not because she needed the money but because she loved and believed in work.
In as much as The Foundation is named after a great woman, it is also in honour of her late husband, Mr William Alfred Kwabena Hammond, a highly successful educationist and sportsman. W. A. (Hammond), as he was affectionately referred to by his colleagues, was part of a well-disciplined team of educators who set up Suhum and Koforidua Secondary Technical Schools. The late W.A. Hammond went on to become a Principal at both Asuansi and Akwatia Technical Institutes.
The Foundation, which started in November 2022, was established in honour of the late Madam Gladys Ayebea Hammond for her love and dedication to education and sport. Even though she lacked formal education, her passion to educate her seven children was exceptional as she believed in the benefits that education could potentially offer.
