An overview of events we have had over the years
November 2022
The Beginning
The journey began with the successful hosting of the first edition of the hockey tournament on 24th and 25th November 2022.
What started as a vision to create opportunities through sport brought together talented students from across different communities for two exciting days of competition, teamwork, and inspiration.
Participating schools included Presby Senior High School – Suhum, Islamic High Girls – Suhum, Suhum Senior High School, Akokoaso Senior High School, Asafo Senior High School, and St. Francis Senior High School.
The tournament not only showcased athletic talent but also fostered unity, discipline, and confidence among the young participants.
July, 2023
Official Launch of the GAH Foundation, July 2023
On 18th July 2023, the Gladys Ayebea Hammond Foundation was officially launched at GNAT Hall, Accra under the inspiring theme, “Opening Doors, Igniting Change.” The event marked a significant milestone in the foundation’s journey and brought together distinguished guests, supporters, leaders, and changemakers who shared in the vision of empowering young people through sport, mentorship, and opportunity. With impactful speeches, meaningful engagements, and strong community support, the launch laid the foundation for a movement dedicated to creating brighter futures and transforming lives.

2nd Edition of the Gladys Ayebea Hammond Hockey Tournament.
Following the success of the maiden edition, the 2nd Edition Hockey Tournament was held in November 2023 as a vibrant two-day sporting event that continued to grow in impact and reach. The tournament featured over 360 players and attracted thousands of spectators, including celebrants of the Suhum Odwira Festival, creating wider exposure for both the event and participating schools. Beyond the excitement on the field, the tournament provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents, build confidence, and strengthen teamwork and leadership skills. The overwhelming participation and support further reinforced the foundation’s commitment to empowering the next generation through sport.

Girls into Leadership Career & Counselling Program, Nov. 2025
As part of our commitment to empowering young girls beyond the playing field, the Gladys Ayebea Hammond Foundation organized the Girls into Leadership Career and Counselling Program on 19th November 2025 at Suhum Senior Technical High School (SUTESCO). The program brought together accomplished professionals, educators, counselors, public servants, and faith leaders to inspire and guide young girls on their academic, career, and personal development journeys.
Through engaging presentations, mentorship sessions, and career guidance discussions, participants were exposed to valuable insights on leadership, education, self-confidence, and the opportunities available to them in various fields. The event created a platform for meaningful interaction between students and experienced professionals, empowering the girls to dream bigger, make informed decisions, and pursue their aspirations with confidence. The program reinforced the foundation’s belief that when girls are equipped with the right knowledge, mentorship, and support, they can become leaders and change-makers in their communities and beyond.
